Dress Your Home For Success!

Home staging can help sell houses without question. When my clients are trying to decide whether a particular house is the right one for them, I ask them whether they can see themselves waking up on Saturday morning in this home. Does it feel good? The Buyers need to be able to envision their new life in the home.

Getting your home ready for sale can be a daunting task. It was for us when we decided to move from our home of 17 years. The stuff that gets accumulated over time!

Start by removing personal items such as family photos, children’s artwork and think about painting bright statement walls a more neutral shade. Colours can influence our emotions or moods. Lighter shades, for example, can help brighten up a room and make it feel larger.

Declutter… Less is more! Show off the spaciousness of your home. It’s easy to accumulate extra pieces of furniture, knick knacks etc over time because it makes your home feel comfortable to you. Give your potential Buyer the space to envision how they would live in the home. Thin out what’s in your closets and on your counters to show the actual space there is.

Take the time to fix, replace those annoying things that you have been meaning to do for a long time, such as replacing light bulbs, cleaning the grout in your bathrooms, doing paint touch ups etc. Make a list and start working items off. Don’t forget to have the windows washed!

Place fresh new linens in your bathrooms. I call them the “show” towels. They are to be put out each morning and removed at night so the family doesn’t use them.

First impressions are the best impressions! Make sure your lawn is cut or snow shovelled. Plant flowers. Leave all your lights on everywhere and open all your blinds to ensure that your home is as welcoming as possible.

Call me to meet to discuss what else you can do to showcase your home.
